Damnoen Saduak is a popular day trip from Bangkok for its floating market. The 100 year old market is now essentially a floating souvenir stand filled with package tourists. This in itself can be a fascinating insight into Thai culture, as the vast majority of tourists here are Thais, and watching the approach to this cultural ‘theme park’ is instructive. South of the floating market are several small family businesses, including a Thai candy maker, a pomelo (shaddock, a type of citrus) farm and a knife crafter
Our guide and driver will meet you at your hotel in Bangkok and transfer you to Damnoen Saduak to see and shop at the floating markets Thailand. Take a long-tail boat ride along the canals to the site of the markets and marvel at the colorful sight of everything on sale from locals’ boats. After shopping around the floating stores, proceed to the Rose Garden for lunch before exploring the resort with its recreated Thai village. Enjoy a Thai village cultural show and gain insight on the many aspects of Thai life and traditions: dancing, wedding and monk ordination ceremonies, kick boxing, sword and long pole fighting, cock fighting, and fingernail dancing. Before leaving to return to Bangkok, see some elephants and watch a short demonstration of them at work.
