Phnom Tamao Wildlife

Head off in the morning to the outskirts of Phnom Penh, toward the Wildlife Rescue Centre in nearby Phnom Tamao. Stop at a local market along the way to pick up some fruit for the animals, and meet the two resident elephants, Chhouk and Lucky, once you arrive. Learn how the rescue center’s employees help care for these magnificent beasts, and even have Lucky paint a t-shirt for you to take home as a keepsake! Then, go behind-the-scenes to experience parts of the wildlife sanctuary that are normally off limits to the public. Get up close and personal with the center’s resident wild cats and primates – like tigers, leopards and gibbons. Then, visit the animal nursery to learn how baby animals are cared for here before trying it out for yourself. Finally, round up your unforgettable wildlife experience on a stroll through the forest with Lucky, and even get a chance to help bathe him in the nearby river.
